Power and Performance

As of right now, there is one engine option for the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The 3.6-liter V6 24V VVT Engine comes standard on each of the Pacifica trim levels. Goodbye, Chrysler Town & Country.
The beloved and albeit unwieldly-named minivan is going out of production, replaced by the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica launching this spring that was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show. You should immediately dispel any thoughts that this is only a rebranding effort on the part of the Detroit automaker, as the Pacifica features more than just a change in name.

The Pacifica rides on an all-new platform, which means that although its dimensions are similar to the model it replaces, it weighs over 300 pounds less. Inside, the Pacifica feels significantly roomier, with around 200 cubic feet of total interior volume and over 140 cubic feet of cargo capacity behind the first row.

More importantly, the Pacifica will be offered as a hybrid model equipped with a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery. It'll be able to travel about 30 miles on electric power alone before the same 3.6-liter V6 in the non-hybrid version kicks in to cover the rest. Together, the electric motor and V6 will get you about 80 miles to the gallon. When you finally need to recharge, it'll take just two hours with a 240-volt plug.
