2020 Jeep® Wrangler Spotlight

When you get behind the wheel of the 2020 Jeep® Wrangler, you'll find all of the same capable, rugged features that made this vehicle such an off-road icon. You'll also discover exciting new options, highlighted by a high-torque diesel engine and a pair of fresh special-edition models.

The New EcoDiesel

New for 2020, you can equip your Jeep® Wrangler with an optional 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine with engine stop-start. This 260-horsepower engine also produces a jaw-dropping 442 lb-ft of torque - the most ever for a Wrangler engine. To help handle all this extra torque, EcoDiesel models will get a special eight-speed automatic transmission. You can get this capable new diesel engine on the four-door Unlimited version of each Wrangler model.

Changed Engine Options

The Jeep® Wrangler's engine lineup features some changes for 2020. The standard engine is still a 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 with engine start-stop, 285 horsepower, and 260 lb-ft of torque. However, there's a new available 2.0-liter turbo inline-four engine that puts out 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. If you opt for the Sahara trim, both of these engines come with mild-hybrid eTorque technology for better start-stop transitions, smoother gear shifts, and better off-road performance.

Revised Packages and Options

You'll find a few new available options and package changes throughout the 2020 Jeep® Wrangler lineup. The entry-level Sport trim now gives you the option to add LED headlamps and fog lamps. If you choose the Advanced Safety Group package and the 8.4-inch Uconnect® infotainment system with navigation, you'll get auto high beams as a new feature.

New Special Editions

Jeep® is offering new Wrangler special editions for 2020. The Willys marks the return of a model from the previous Wrangler generation. It boasts features like a special hood decal, a black grille and wheels, 32-inch mud-terrain tires, heavy-duty brakes, rock rails, and a limited-slip rear differential. The all-new Black & Tan offers a tan soft top, low-gloss exterior badges, Machine Granite wheels, and interior features like Heritage Tan cloth seats and a Wizard Black instrument panel. The Freedom Edition celebrates the hard work and sacrifice of American soldiers.

2019 Jeep® Wrangler Spotlight

There are few vehicles in the automotive industry that are as recognizable as the 2019 Jeep® Wrangler. The off-road-ready compact SUV has a ruggedly handsome interior, superior capabilities, and a range of features that will make it easy to head out on the open road. No matter where your next adventure takes you, the 2019 Wrangler will help you get there.

The 2019 Jeep® Wrangler is available at five trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Rubicon, and MOAB.

The Sport, Sport S, and Rubicon are available in two-door or four-door body styles. The Sahara and MOAB are only available in a four-door body style.

Powertrains and Performance

You have two engine options on the 2019 Wrangler. The first is the standard 3.6-liter V6. This comes paired with either a six-speed manual or the available eight-speed automatic and produces 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.

The second engine option is a 2.0-liter direct-injection turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This engine offers slightly less power, but more torque with 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.

When properly equipped, the two-door Wrangler model can tow a maximum of 2,000 pounds. The Wrangler Unlimited increases this number to 3,500 pounds.

Interior Design

The interior of the 2019 Wrangler combines function and style. Its exterior styling continues into the cabin with hard lines and sculpted curves giving the interior a rugged look. Materials are of good quality and are also durable and easy to clean, which is a big plus if you plan on heading off road in your Wrangler.

Depending on the Wrangler you choose, you can seat either four or five passengers. Cargo space also depends on your model. The two-door Wrangler will give you about 13 cubic feet behind the rear seats, which expands to 47 cubic feet when the seats are folded down. For the four-door models, this number will increase to 32 cubic feet with the rear seats up and more than 72 cubic feet with these seats folded down.

Standard and Available Features

Standard features on the base Wrangler Sport include a ParkView® rear back up camera, Trailer Sway Damping, the Uconnect® 3 infotainment system with 5-inch display, Bluetooth®, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, an auxiliary 12-volt rear power outlet, and cruise control.

As you move up the trim levels, you will find other available features like power-heated mirrors, an upgraded Uconnect® 4 infotainment system with 7-inch display, Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® compatibility, an Alpine® premium audio system, SiriusXM® satellite radio, and GPS antenna input.

2018 Jeep® Wrangler JL VS Wrangler JK - What's the Difference?

The Jeep® Wrangler JK has carried over to the 2018 model year, but joining this year is the 2018 Jeep® Wrangler JL, which was recently unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Stylistically, the two are very similar, though AutoWeek does point out key differences in the windshield-essentially, in an effort to be more aerodynamic, the JL loses some of the JK's slope.

What Else Can We Expect For the 2018 Jeep® Wrangler JL?

The new JL model makes use of more lightweight materials for improved efficiency, such as the aluminum doors, fenders, and hood and the magnesium rear swing gate.

On the inside, the JL model deviates more from the JK. Overall, the interior has a more premium feel; it even features a splash-proof 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen, in case things get a little wet when off-roading. Jeep® also promises that the interior is quieter than the JK model.

The award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 carries over from the JK, but true Jeep® enthusiasts won't be surprised by that. You can, however, opt for a new 2.0-liter inline-four turbocharged engine on any of the trim levels. Horsepower drops from 285 to 270 with this engine, but you'll get more torque: 295 lb-ft instead of 260. A turbodiesel V6 will be available in 2019 and a plugin hybrid by 2020.

Mopar Parts for the 2018 Jeep® Wrangler JL

Parts Shown Off on the 2018 Jeep® Wrangler Sport

Mopar also brought a Wrangler Sport to LA to showcase some other key performance parts, such as…

  • Roof rack-the very first for a Wrangler
  • Hardtop headliner for a quieter ride and insulated interior
  • Tube steps and 2-inch lift kit for improved off-roading
  • Tailgate table for a utility space on the go
  • Black fuel door
  • Doorsill guards

More than 100,000 hours went into the development, validation, and testing of these parts and all the others introduced for the new 2018 Jeep® Wrangler JL. You can browse the Mopar parts store online now for your new 2018 Wrangler JL to figure out exactly what you'll want for your new off-road SUV.

The new 2018 Jeep® Wrangler is the most capable Wrangler ever. The JL model features the 3.6-liter Penastar® V6, but you can also opt for a 2.0-liter inline-four turbocharged engine. In the future, expect a turbodiesel V6 and a plugin hybrid.
